Thoughts from Cathy…

As 2015 comes to a close, I am thankful for the clients and partners who we have worked with over this past year. I am delighted that some of our clients have been inspired to enjoy off sites in a truly beautiful part of world ~ the Bruce Peninsula. I am proud of expanding Smart Move’s reach building a team of strong, like-minded facilitator’s including our most recent addition ~ long time sailor and colleague – Tracy Schmitt.

My hopes and dreams for 2016 include continuing to offer excellent programs both from a leadership coaching and accessibility training perspective. I am also looking forward to developing additional partnerships with like-minded organizations. On a personal note – I fully intend to show my art, travel with my husband and continue to ‘love up’ my beautiful, young adult sons!

Thoughts from Joanna…

As 2015 comes to a close, I am most proud of the emotional intelligence and flexibility that continues to grow in me and in the clients I’ve been lucky to work with throughout the course of this year. I’m aware of the joy, awe and humility that I feel as clients learn, grow and transform into the leaders they want to become through our work together. I feel a sense of inspiration when I witness groups collaborating to create a shared vision and following through on strong commitments to action through our work. On the flip side I am also aware of feelings of grief and letting go in the face of many losses in my own life in 2015, and as I witness our clients’ understandable grieving as they let go of old ways. Grieving points us to what we care about most – what we hold most near and dear – which in turn reminds us who we are and where we want to point ourselves next.

In 2016 I look forward to ever-deepening collaboration and work that truly makes a difference in the world, helping more dogs-in-need and recording my own music:)

Thoughts from Tracy…

I was humbled and grateful working with the wonderful coworkers and allies on numerous advisory boards, businesses, organizations, and schools in my role at Pan Am-Parapan Am Games. ‘Toronto 2015’ here is a ‘shout out’ to say thank you! It was such a fulfilling year providing customer service training, motivational awareness raising and accessibility audits across the vast footprint of the Games.

With this year marking the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act [AODA] halfway point to creating an accessible Ontario by 2025; timing couldn’t have been more perfect for Ontario to host the Games. It was a great honour and highlight of my life to be a part of creating such a significant legacy.

So motivated to continue doing work I love; life has come full circle! Catherine Smart (who founded Independence Afloat Sailing School in 1980) taught me to sail many years ago. Since then our paths have crossed hundreds of times and now I am delighted to have recently joined Smart Move!

In 2016 I look forward to sharing successes with all of you. My call to action… Let’s partner up! Together we can create awe-inspiring teams, be the best of what your organization can be and continuously improve inclusion. The year started out on a high coming back from participating in an international sailing regatta at the Melbourne Worlds in my dreamboat; as well as becoming a ‘Quest for the Gold’ Carded Athlete. Next on the agenda ‘Quest for the Gold Businesses’! I very much look forward to spending time with you in 2016.
